The Alden Park Apartments in Cherry Valley were created to provide affordable housing for low-income seniors. Located in a renovated wing of the former Cherry Valley school building at 2 Genesee Street, the project transformed this space into ten apartments through a partnership between the Cherry Valley Community Facilities Corporation and Otsego Rural Housing Assistance (ORHA).
Funded by a New York State Small Rental Development Initiative (SRDI) grant, the apartments are available to seniors aged 62 and older with annual incomes below 80% of the area median income (AMI). Some units are specifically reserved for seniors earning 50% AMI or less, while others are set aside for those with incomes between 50% and 60% AMI.
The Alden Park Apartments welcomed their first tenants in 2021, and applications are accepted on a continuous basis.
